As anticipated a few days ago, Xiaomi has formalized its new top of the range of the Xiaomi 13 series during the day yesterday. All the main rumors of recent weeks have therefore been confirmed, starting with the different design adopted by the two versions and the presence of the brand new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, able to allow the two top of the range to offer a clear leap in performance in different areas. But let’s get to know them better.
XIAOMI 13 PRO
So let’s start with Xiaomi 13 Pro, which comes with a front design all in all very similar to that of its direct predecessor. This is because the specifications of the display remain more or less unchanged, given the presence of a 6.73″ 10-bit OLED unit of the LTPO type, with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, a resolution of 3,200 x 1,440 pixels and support for classic HDR10+ technologies, Dolby Vision, HLG and the ambient light sensor that acts on the color temperature of the panel.
The main differences compared to 12 Pro concern the adoption of a Samsung E6 unit that allows you to reach a peak brightness of 1,900 nits when viewing HDR content, while standing at 1,200 nits during classic use.
Under the body we find other improvements that – in addition to the presence of the new SoC – concern the transition to LPDDR5X and UFS 4.0 3.5 GB/s memories (UFS 3.1 on the 128 GB cut, up to 2.2 GB/s), respectively for RAM and storage space, which are proposed in 8/12 GB cuts for the former and 128/256/512 GB for the latter. There is also a 4,820 mAh battery with support for fast charging at 120W (19 minutes from 0% to 100%) in wired mode and 50W in wireless mode Pro (36 minutes from 0% to 100%), in addition to the reverse one at 10W.
But the real flagship of Xiaomi 13 Pro is its new photographic compartment, where we find the main sensor from 1 “to 50 MP Sony IMX989 (with a crop of the central part), the same adopted on 12S Ultra, combined with a new lens with Leica lenses and f/1.9 aperture and Hyper OIS functionality. The other two cameras are also equipped with a 50 MP sensor, starting from the 3.2x optical telephoto one, equipped with the Leica Lens Floating f/2.0 system and the ability to focus from just 10 cm, while the ultra wide one is a 115° f/2.2 equipped with the focusing system that allows it to be used also for macro shots. The front camera is 32 MegaPixel (f/2.5) and can only shoot movies in FHD at 30 fps.
Among the other features of Xiaomi 13 Pro we also find IP68 certification, Dolby Atmos speaker with support for the new head tracking mode, Wi-Fi 6e and Bluetooth 5.3, IR emitter, fingerprint sensor in the display, ceramic back (leather in the light blue variant) and operating system based on MIUI 14 and Android 13. Finally, we point out that the dimensions are equal to 162.9 x 74.6 x 8.7 mm and 229 grams of weight.
XIAOMI 13
Xiaomi 13, on the other hand, adopts a much more squared design and similar to that of the latest generations of iPhone, going to equip a flat front panel (that of 13 Pro has the classic curved edges) under which we find a 120 Hz OLED display that shares all the main technologies present on the Pro model, including peak brightness. The differences concern the adoption of a lower resolution – it goes to 2,400 x 1,080 pixels -, the absence of LTPO technology and a diagonal of 6.36 “.
It does not change even what we find under the body, since we have the same SoC and the same memory cuts, while compared to Xiaomi 12 we have the inclusion of a real camera with telephoto optics, which completes the photographic sector. Specifically, we have a 50 MegaPixel Sony IMX800 main sensor (54 MP effective) f / 1.8, a 3x telephoto optical 10 MegaPixel f / 2.0 with OIS and an ultra wide 12 MegaPixel 120 ° (f / 2.2) without autofocus. All rear cameras adopt Leica lenses, while we point out that the front one remains the same 32 MP that we find on the Pro.
The battery of Xiaomi 13 is a 4,500 mAh unit equipped with fast charging wired to 67 W (from 0% to 100% in 38 minutes), wireless to 50 W (from 0% to 100% in 48 minutes) and reverse to 10 W, while we do not find differences – compared to the Pro – regarding support for the new Dolby Atmos features, to Wi-Fi 6e and Bluetooth 5.3, and even in the presence of IP68 certification.
Instead, the materials change, since the ceramic gives way to a more traditional glass back, even if the light blue version has the same leather back panel. The colors are the same as the Pro model (black, gray, white, green and light blue) and to these are also added other variants with brighter colors, namely red, yellow, green and blue.
