Microsoft has updated the Android subsystem of Windows 11 and Android 13 for all Insiders – even those subscribed to the Beta and Insider Preview channels: the news is official, and the update (WSA version 2211.40000.11.0) should already be in distribution.
The Redmond giant had started a rather discreet test phase already last December, but requested to participate in the WSA-specific Preview program, which is separate from the “usual” Insider initiative for Windows. The main changes, in addition to the update of the version number, are the following:
-Improvements in boot times
-Improvements in mouse click detection
-Improvements in clipboard stability
-Improvements to the app window resizing feature
-Improvements to the reliability of opening media files in Windows
-Application jumplists support app shortcuts.
According to the official roadmap, Microsoft is still working on some important features for the WSA, which allows you to run Android apps and games on your Windows 11 PC thanks to the presence of the Amazon Appstore. These include Picture-in-Picture support, file transfer between the Android container and the host operating system, and local network access by default.
At the moment it is not clear when Android 13 will also be made available in the stable channel, which at present is still at version 12L, released during this summer. Recall that among the minimum requirements are 8 GB of RAM and an x64 processor.
