Proton VPN browser extension is now free for all users

by Andrew

Originally it was a feature that was available only to those people who subscribed to the site.

Proton VPN’s Extensive Accessibility
Folks, there is good news that came with the update to the client – you don’t have to be a premium subscriber to enjoy and use Proton VPN’s browser extension. For a long time, to make use of this extension, one needed to be a subscriber of the service’s paid plans; all that is required now is to download a Firefox or Chromium based browser on your device and you are ready to go.

Now let me remind you, that last year Proton VPN was our primary VPN choice because it was fast and did not log data passing through its servers. It has its app available for Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android plus Linux, and while the paid version is available, the one that is free is limited.

Benefits that come with using Proton VPN Paid Version
Proton VPN has free and paid versions, paid has far better speed and choice of over 100 countries. They also support connection of up to 10 devices at a go. While that is the case, there is always a time the free version has a hard time sustaining the connection during the tests. Nonetheless, it does that quite effectively. Also, a browser extension has been incorporated as a means through which users can reap from the services of the service provider.

The extension will enable you to take your usual Internet connectivity beyond your browser. This is especially helpful if there is an app that does not work well with device wide VPN, but you need to secure your connection or if there is a need for bypassing restrictions of a certain region set by a website.

The Proton Duo plan
Proton VPN has newly introduced the plan it calls Proton Duo. As a plan made for two users only, it provides such features as 1TB of shared storage, combined with 15GB per year in addition, and the right to use Proton Mail, Proton Drive, Proton Calendar, Proton Pass, and Proton VPN.

As for the current trends and development it should be mentioned that at the moment in time Proton VPN does not have plans for releasing this product for the Safari web browser. However, we will not neglect the opportunity to let you know if this is ever to change.

Extensions for Chrome and Firefox can be found on the main page of the Proton VPN service.
