War of the monsters: It is the Japanese electronics gaming giant Nintendo that has taken on Pocketpair.
Nintendo Company and Pokémon Company Intellectual Property have sued Pocketpair, the Japanese video game Palworld developer for infringing on its patent. Some people look at the latter as cute armed monsters show and refer to it as Pokémon’s imitation.
This work is perhaps one of the most dazzling successes of cinema history that is rather shadowed by controversy.
Palworld can be purchased on Steam since January 18, has become a hit and has received more than 15 million copies and more than 25 million players in a month. However, they made strange the game disk popular and this attracted the attention of The Pokémon Company. Soon after the release of Palworld, the company said that it would look into one of the game’s ‘’released in January 2024’’ such and announced that it would take ‘’necessary actions for Nintendo and Pokémon’s IP rights infringement.’’ It appears that this investigation is now over and legal action is in place.
An example of infringement of patents
In a statement when Nintendo informed everyone that they have filed the lawsuit, they explained that “This lawsuit aims at seeking preventive measures against infringement and claiming damages by stating that the game Palworld, which is developed and published by the defendant, infringes several patent rights.
The defense of Pocketpair
However, Pocketpair has been quick to respond to these accusations citing the fact that it resembles more of Ark Survival Evolved and Vanaheim than Pokémon. Takuro Mizobe, the company’s CEO stated that Palworld had “passed the legal reviews” and that no legal action have been taken against Pocketpair in regards to its development. Forquiry, the game might be similar to Pokémon, but considering the monsters present and storyline Palworld has a darker feel. The monsters are called here “Pals”, which the players can take and marry, but they also can kill those pals, force them to fight or sell them into slavery.
