Apple’s Magic Mouse undergoes transformation
Based on details given by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is recreating its widely-known accessory, the Magic Mouse into its entirety. This mouse which has been on the receiving end over it’s design could experience a drastic change.
Corrected design errors
Even critics of the Apple design have to agree that the Magic Mouse is easily one of the worst design decisions that Apple has ever made. However you look at the mouse and all the things it can do we all have to wonder what the designers were smoking when they decided on the location of the charging port. At least, the situation can change in several years. Indeed, the future Magic Mouse would be envisioned to “improve to fit the contemporary” environment and address longer pending grievances. In other words, the new mouse could simply relocate a charging port to a slightly more logical position – and not the bottom of the mouse.
Revised and corrected, concerning ergonomics
Other negatives involve that the Magic Mouse is not ergonomic or comfortable. Gurman also adds that Apple should also consider these complains. This is a bigger problem to solve because users will be able to wear a comfortable design every day.
An exit still far away
However, we will have to wait before we see this new Magic Mouse arrive. He did not know when he would be released, not in the next 12-18 months at least. He also mentions that today Corden talked about the new mouse that’s a different form of the optical mouse, but it is a mere prototype which takes months, if not years, of development to be ready for sale.
In conclusion, the current design of the Magic Mouse is 15 years old and the error of the charging port placement makes it 9 years old, however, it looks like there is still a chance in this peripheral. However, what I found interesting was that Apple has only recently come out with a new version of the Magic Mouse – they replaced the port with a USB-C one. This hasn’t changed the overall functionality or design of the mouse, but it does show that Apple isn’t done innovating in this area yet.
