RIDLEY SCOTT AND HIS APPETITE OF CINEMA
Ridley Scott just cannot get enough. The film director from Great Britain is still active at the age of 86 and possibly one or two films a year. This year and the past year only, this director has bestowed upon us House of Gucci (2021), The Last Duel (2021) and Napoleon (2023). Currently, Ridley Scott is shooting a new peplum: The sequel of Gladiator Reply Quite simply, Ridley Scott’s Gladiator 2 would have made money had it been released in cinema theaters. But in Prometheus’s time Ridley Scott was trying to claim back his epic. In fact, it is known that at one point Neill Blomkamp, the director of District 9, was to make Alien 5 with Sigourney Weaver. However, the project was effectively run ragged by Ridley Scott who wanted to create an antecedent to the saga with Prometheus. Finally, his license slipped away from him again after two films, since Fede Alvarez was commissioned to direct Alien Romulus and Noah Hawley directed a series called Alien: Neverland. Concerning Blade Runner, this cyberpunk universe will be back in a series ordered by Amazon and based on Denis Villeneuve’s movie. Luckily, Ridley Scott will still be able to comfort himself with Gladiator 2, planned for release on November 13 in theaters.
