Exactly one month after Samsung confirmed that its “Unpacked” event would be held in the last week of July, the exact day when the new Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy ZFlip5 will be announced also arrives: July 26.
“Join the flip side” is the claim chosen by Samsung for the first teaser of the event dedicated to Flip which, surely, will also follow others in the coming days, probably also focused on the Fold.
Before the official confirmation by the Korean company, many rumors had already circulated about the possibility that this event would be held slightly earlier than the usual time window of mid-August.
The decision to anticipate the event by a few weeks could be linked both to the desire to give a greater boost to revenue in the third quarter, after a partial disappointment of the latest fiscal results, and to that of “postponing” the launch of the iPhone, usually scheduled during the first half of September.
The next Galaxy Unpacked will still be held in Seoul, the capital of South Korea, where the company is also headquartered. The event, as anticipated, will take place at the Coex Convention & Exhibition Center in Samseong-dong, in the Gangnam-gu district of Seoul, one of the main convention and exhibition centers in South Korea.
Samsung had so far always chosen to hold its events in major cities around the world, but never in Seoul which was chosen for its way of “influencing global trends with its dynamic culture and innovation”. Korea is also the country where Samsung’s foldable smartphones have achieved the most sales success so far and where the adoption rate in 2022 was 13.6%.
As for the products that will be announced, we can say that we know everything down by now. In the past few hours, many unofficial press renderings have also been published. Both the Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5 should be quite similar to current models but with many improvements both from a hardware and technological point of view.
For both, in fact, in addition to a new “teardrop” hinge that should allow a perfect closure between the two parts, there would also be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. The Flip should also have an external 3.6-inch display that will occupy most of the upper body. For the Fold, on the other hand, refinements of the current features are mostly expected.
In addition to foldables, new tablets from the Galaxy Tab S9 range (basic, plus and ultra versions), a new Galaxy Watch 6 smartwatch (in two versions) and a new generation of Galaxy Buds earphones are also expected.
