AmigaOS 3.2.2 is official: the computer of the 80s is updated again

by Andrew

It seems that the Amiga, one of the most famous series of home computers of the 80s, do not really want to know how to give way (not only for the continuous revivals in a modern key). Hyperion Entertainment has announced the availability of a second update for AmigaOS 3.2, the operating system designed to run on classic Amiga machines based on the Motorola 68000 CPU. The new Update 2 comes more than a year after AmigaOS 3.2.1, released by Hyperion in December 2021, and introduces bug fixes and feature updates for AmigaOS 3.2.
Instead of supporting the PowerPC CPU architecture as in AmigaOS 4, Amiga 3.2 arrived 28 years after the last official release and still maintains compatibility with classic Amiga machines and includes all the features of the original AmigaOS 3.1.

As reported on the company’s official website, the highlights of the new AmigaOS 3.2.2 include several improvements to the Text Editor, the revision ID for the 68060 CPUs and better file management related to system icons. In addition, AmigaOS 3.2.2 can now coexist with previous versions of the operating system thanks to the support of the old “Kickstart” boot component. Some gadgets have also been improved or overhauled, and the RAM Disk has been completely redone to reduce the likelihood of causing errors.
AmigaOS 3.2.2 is available as an official download from the Hyperion website for users who already own an officially licensed copy of AmigaOS 3.2. Find the link in Source.
